CAMBODIA – Wonder of Ancient World
Cambodia is one of Indochina's most fascinating destinations. The country’s unique Khmer culture, which thrived between the 9th and 14th centuries, has remained very much in tact. The magnificent temples, forests with giant tree roots draped over sandstone Buddha faces, banyan trees and lines of celestial nymphs, which appear on 100-meter friezes, have won the Angkor region the top archeological site in South East Asia and one of “the Wonders of Ancient World”. The capital, Phnom Penh, with traces of its former splendors still visible at the Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, continues to amaze tourists with its contrasting architecture of ancient Khmer temple structures and classic French colonial buildings.
